Position Overview:
The Program Support Internship is a unique chance to gain meaningful experience in the environmental design sector, within a rapidly growing organization. The Program Support Intern will work directly with the Principal on a variety of projects pertaining to the fields of architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, engineering, and more. This internship provides a way for you to cultivate useful skills in the design sector, while learning to manage internship programs, social media, and program development. Extensive on-the-job training is provided for an exceptional candidate. Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

Global Site Plans, (www.globalsiteplans.com/the-grid), specializes in branding for small and medium-sized architecture, engineering, environmental non-profits, landscape architecture, and urban planning companies. Global Site Plans' expertise lays in environmental design sector website design, branding, internet marketing, social media, social marketing, and content services, for online and print media needs. Established in 2010, Global Site Plans has grown to offer a daily blog, (www.globalsiteplans.com/the-grid), providing local perspectives to international environmental design issues. Content for The Grid is written by Blogger Interns. The current intern staff is 18 and growing. Global Site Plans has established partnerships with The Congress for the New Urbansim, The Sustainable Cities Collective, and more. We look forward to continuing to bring locally-oriented news to the environmental design sector, while providing sector-specific services.
Responsibilities:
The Program Support Intern responsibilities vary based on individual qualifications and experience. They may include, but are not limited to:
Internship Outreach, Recruitment, and Retention
• Research businesses, organizations, and websites within the environmental design community that would increase outreach to internship applicants; requiring extensive online research.
• Recruit international internship applicants through universities, businesses, and organizations by disseminating internship opportunity notices (familiarity with Mail Merge and database management tools is a plus).
• Coordinate updating the email database after advertising internship opportunity notices (familiarity with Excel is a plus).
• Support the internship application process by communicating with applicants and vacancy posters.
Internship Coordination and Tracking
• Assisting in new internship participant training and acclimation.
• Tracking blogger performance based upon quantitative measures.
• Develop end-of-internship performance reports (familiarity with Excel, Google Docs, and DropBox is a plus).
Administrative Support of Development
• Manually disseminate The Grid blog roll to partner websites.
• Social media development and coordination (familiarity with HootSuite, Facebook, and LinkedIn are a plus).
• Develop databases of potential product sponsors and advertisers in the environmental design fields (familiarity with architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, engineering, or a related field is a plus).
Compensation:
• This is an unpaid internship. A 500 TL stipend is offered upon completion of internship.
• Non-monetary compensation: The opportunity to be an integral member of an energetic, innovative, hard-working, and rapidly growing environmental design team. A relaxed, comfortable working environment, and bottomless coffee. No dress-code. This position can prepare you for the role of Program Support Specialist with an average salary of $38,000 per year (United States).
Must be available Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00am - 3:00pm (10 hours per week commitment). Internship lasts from January 2013 - July 2013. The position reports to the Principal of Global Site Plans. The office is located in Ulus Mahallesi, Istanbul, Turkey.
