Generally, what is Izmir University of Economics like?

IUE is the first foundation university of the Aegean region offering degree programs in associate, undergraduate, master’s , and doctorate levels. In Turkey, foundation universities are known with the high variety of opportunities that they can give you. For IEU, foreign language skills, technologically supported education system, international proffessors and well designed university campus can be good points especially if you are a design student.

What are the tutors like?

I am a student of Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, interior architecture department but take some lessons also from other departments(pool lessons are mandatory in our education). Therefore i can say that they are mostly good but some of them can be failed people not just as a tutor but also as a character. (lets be honest, it s like that everwhere in life :)

Are the lessons easy in Izmir University of Economics?

Difficulties of the lessons depend on the faculties and departments but still i can say that level is medium. This is because it is a foundation university and background of students are not same.

Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?

Yes, lots of activities are organised but not all are about entertainment. These activities can be related with ur education like participation of some people who work actively in the sector and u can have opportunity to meet and do some projects with them. University can welcome some meetings that u can join freely. Student clubs are not so various and active actually but still some of them are good and do some shows on spring fest and also some famous singers can come on spring fest etc.

Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?

Interior achitecture department has become an educational member of the International Federation of Interior Architects/ Designers (IFI). IFI is considered to be the highest association related to our profession. IEU gives nice opportunities for learning. However this is for students who are really interested in education.

Are there any stories you can share?

You can be suprised when you see Starbucks into campus or a coiffeur. It s very often for design students sleeping in the design building(there are some sofas). Be ready for well-groomed people especially girls bla bla.
