ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Through a holistic approach, this experiential learning program not only offers a practical hands-on experience in sustainable food production, but also demonstrates the interconnected elements of a functioning business model that can be replicated and multiplied within local food systems. It is designed for students, community builders and aspiring local food actors with an interest in sustainable development.

Our goal is to inspire and train a new wave of young change-makers who recognize the challenges within our current food system and want to transform it into a more resilient model.

We are looking for passionate and driven team players who are ready to step into a real-life work experience, and gain the knowledge and skills that will help them create solutions for the future of their communities.

The program runs 4 times per year between March and November. Each internship period lasts 3 months with the possibility of extension for students who wish to stay longer.

When

We offer 4 spots for each of the following periods.
March – May (FULL)
May – July (FULL)
July – September (2 SPOTS AVAILABLE)
September – November (2 SPOTS AVAILABLE)

Where

The Culinary Farm is located in the heart of Skåne, south of Sweden. The property dates back to 1865 and is surrounded by beautiful forest trees like oak, birch, beech and alder.

ABOUT THE FARM:

Our 1.4 hectare diversified farm is designed thoughtfully through permaculture principles. This agro-ecological project aims to demonstrate regenerative agriculture practices on a human-scale that are embedded into its day-to-day operation. We grow high-value and high-in-demand fresh seasonal produce for a community of chefs and local food enthusiasts who support our mission.

CONTENT
Participants will take part in the following 3 main activities throughout the season:

  • Food Production - cultivating, harvesting and caring for a wide range of fresh seasonal produce, food preservation

  • Business Management - planning, sales & marketing as well as customer relations.

  • Research & development - record keeping, documentation, farm analytics and reports.

BEYOND “LEARNING BY DOING”
Our proven teaching method extends to “learning, doing and teaching” to encourage participants to develop their leadership and teamwork skills. This creates a learning opportunity for interns to step into a leading and teaching role for new students who will later join the team.

THE INTERNSHIP PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Please note that our responsibilities in the field are physically demanding (i.e lifting, working in all weather conditions). Students are encouraged to apply for the program only if they feel comfortable with the physical requirements of farming.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Morning Coffee & Tea

  • Daily lunch primarily made from the farm’s produce

  • Shuttle service to and from the closest train station

  • A lifetime experience of working with an inspiring, passionate and inclusive team whose values are rooted in healthy soils, healthy food and healthy minds
