What is it like to live in Ho Chi Minh City? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

The city looks like a holy crap when you don't know how to enjoy it. Everywhere is traffic jams, people, noisy and thieves. However, It is also a place which deserts to stay when you can hang out overnight. This city never sleeps. In the midnight, when most of people in city take a rest, the others still go through streets, drink coffee in their favourite store, listen the music of the night, crazy in bar, pub or just a acoustic coffee shop and have a great dinner in a lots alleys with 12 000 vietnamdong (~ 0.48 e)

What is the student lifestyle like in Ho Chi Minh City?

I can't say anything about this questions. Too many lifestyle which I don't remember such as party-guys or bookworms

How much does it cost to live in Ho Chi Minh City?

Many kind to stay. If you are poor and don't have house, you can stay with 108e/month (28e for a outside room which you can stay how many people you want - the others for living). However, you still can spen over 640e/month for a luxury life.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Vietnamese style. A lot of kind of food. Vietnam is usually separated into 3 parts and everywhere has their own kind of foods and smells. Sometime even in the same city, they have a lots kind of food. Vietnam foods usually relate with rice and something like that. However, you still can choose Europe foods in any district or different countries food as Italia, Spain, ect.
