Generally, what is Hong Kong Baptist University like?

Like other universities in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University is modernised and well-equipped. But the geographical location is not extremely good. By metro (MTR), you get off in Kowloon Tong, which is a rich area with a lot of luxurious houses. Once you get off, the university is 15 min distance by walking. Luckily, if you're too tired to walk, you may choose to go by minibus near the station, which costs around 0. 50 euros per trip.

What are the facilities like?

The school campus is composed mainly by two areas, the old campus (Ho Sin Hang Campus) and the new campus (Baptist University Road Campus). It might take you 10-15 mins to commute. Meanwhile, the buildings in new campus (mainly the AAB) are new and high-ended. The buildings in old campus, in my opinion (because I don't go there a lot), are old superficially but they are newly renovated inside.

The library of HKBU is very comprehensive. Normally you could find the books and resources you need inside or through the database. Besides, the library is very big and spacious. You definitely can find a good and silence place for your study! (It's more tensed during the pre-exam period).

What are the tutors like?

Well, it's hard to generalise all of them. But normally they are very nice and they appreciate active and self-learning students. They are way enthusiastic to provide help to your projects and anything. For the grades, it's hard to say. Some of them are being called 'killer' as they grade students with straight requirements. But in general, these killers are very enthusiastic in teaching and you'll definitely benefit from them.

Are the lessons easy in Hong Kong Baptist University?

Indeed this depends on your major. Normally courses of your major are more straight. But the other electives, like GE courses are easy and interesting. Attention, the places of GE courses are so limited. If you really want to take a course, remember to charge you laptop and have a well-connected wifi during the start of course registration.

Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?

Yes, they do. I know an international office which organises plenty of activities for international students and there will be a lot of local students joining. It's interesting to have a buddy in school or even in Hong Kong because you can ask them the questions.

Besides, the university organises other types of activities which are not very popular... you'll see.

Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?

Definitely, I don't repeat the words that I've just mentioned but I do think most of the courses and teachers are interesting and worthy.

Are there any stories you can share?

The school residence of HKBU is clean, although the rooms are a bit small. Normally you share a toilet and a shower room with 4-5 persons, which isn't like in Europe (well I'm studying in France and I've visited the residence of my friend in Germany). Regarding its location (in the middle of Kowloon), the price is really cheap as the price level in Hong Kong is really unaffordable.
