Harstad. A small town in the North of Norway

Harstad is a small town located in the far north of Norway. It offers a lot of spectacular views of mountain scenery and there are a lot of opportunities to explore the nature itself by hiking. The university college is located 5 mins from the centrum and should be very easy to find once you arrived.

The college itself has plenty of facilities which are available for the students to use almost 24/7. The college ingages with the students and is always hosting activities for students. You also have the posibility to rent most equipments for activities such as snowboarding, skiing, hiking, fishing and much more. You will also meet other international students ranging from european countries to the far African continent. 

However, Norway is not part of the European Union which makes it an independent economy. Prices are VERY and I repeat, VERY expensive compared to eastern and western countries but in return, the salaries are very high.

Concerning the nightlife. The town has a few bars/night clubs where you can hang out with your friends/colleagues. Furthermore the College has it's own bar where students can get together and have a beer for a reasonable price compared to other clubs. 

The climate is very cold in the winter period and the roads are very icy during the winter. So bring all your warm clothes. During the winter period you can see the Northern Lights almost on daily basis, which is very beautiful.

All in all, it was a great experience to study there even though you might feel borred from time to time. I would recommend this for people who are very much into the nature and appriciates it. You might also become more integrated if you either understand Norwegian and speaks it, or if you speak any of the other scandinavian country's language (Swedish or Danish).
