What is it like to live in Hatfield? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Hatfield is quiet and there isn’t a lot to do. If you’re looking for a quite calm place Hatfield is great but it can get quite boring. Luckily it’s easy enough to get to other towns or cities with more to do in them.

What is the student lifestyle like in Hatfield?

The university of Hertfordshire provides a great students union which goes a long way to improving the student lifestyle. There are a lot of student friendly options of things to do. Most students go home regularly so campus is often very quiet.

How much does it cost to live in Hatfield?

Accommodation costs in Hatfield can be quite high but other living costs can be affordable. Things such as food shopping and even going to the forum (UH night club) can be affordable.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Hatfield? Is there any advice you can give?

It’s not difficult to find accommodation. There’s a lot of university accommodation available with various prices. If you’re trying to live off campus, there are a few letting agents that you can work with. UH also have a team that will now help with looking for houses off campus. Equally, UH has a list of accredited landlords which means students can use the list if they’re looking to rent privately. New accommodation is also being built in Hatfield.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

There’s quite a lot of food places in Hatfield, both restaurants and takeaway. The food places are for all different price ranges but mostly affordable.

What places would you recommend visiting in Hatfield?

There isn’t much to do in Hatfield but the galleria has a lot of shops to be looked in. My favourite in there is the free book shop which is a great charity. There’s also an odeon in the galleria. Hatfield house also seems to have events on during the year though I haven’t been to any

Is it good to eat out in Hatfield? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There’s a lot of food places to eat out at in Hatfield, from McDonald’s to Harvester to Prezzo. A lot of food places also have student discounts. My favourites are Bella Italia and Harpsfield House (whetherspoons)

Is the nightlife good in Hatfield? Where is good to go?

In terms of clubbing, there is only the forum in Hatfield. It’s the university nightclub that is open 3-4 nights a week. Entry can be expensive if you don’t buy your tickets ahead of time. The forum is open until 3am but the UH shuttle buses always run up to half an hour after the club closes. There are more clubs in surrounding cities such as Watford and St Albans.
