Erasmus experience in Härnösand, Sweden

Why did you choose to go to Härnösand, Sweden?

I decided to choose Sweden because of the degree I am doing. It is English, so the choice between Sweden and for example Rumunia was one! Swidish people are the best in English and I had the opportunity to learn much more that I expected in very developed country!

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

one semester, approx. 300 euro

What is the student lifestyle like in Härnösand?

amazing!!!!!!!!! they have PM (representatives for student union) they organize so many events!!!!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Härnösand to other students?

OFC!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is the food like?

very interesting, natural and tasty (I have tried smoked deer hear, Köttbullar, reindeer, deer tongue, kannelbullar and moooore)

How did you find your accommodation?

My international coordinator in Sweden helped me, it was very easy, they have plenty of rooms to choose from in Harnosand.

What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?

It is quite expensive. my scholarship was about 300euro and the room cost me about 200euro, but rooms are very comfy and nice! food: 20 SEK bread, 15 SEK butter, 80 SEK minced meat, 50 SEK cigarettes, 200SEK bottle of vodka

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

First I thought it sounds like japanease. Then I got used to it and I love it, although it is very difficult to pronounce it is possible to learn! Yes, we had swedish lessons and we did not have to pay for them.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Härnösand from your city?

Wizzair flights from Poznań to Stockholm Skavsta, then 1,5h Flygbussarn shuttle bus to Stockholm City Terminalen and then Ybuss or train directly to Harnosand (nearly 6 hours)

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Härnösand?

All of them! Every exchange students find their own unique and special place.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Härnösand?

Unfortunately my best friend from Slovenia loves McD so I must say that yes I reccomend this place (thou it is somehow true couse I have great memories connected with that place)
I do not really have the opinion for outgoing because we were cooking once a week all together at the students places so it is hard to recommend something.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The is jazz club, dancing studio etc. It was ok for me.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Härnösand in the future?

I have visited Harnosand twice since I have left!!! just go and have unreal life like we had!!!! I still have tears in my eyes! everything reminds me of my sweethearts and the best time in my life forever!
