What is it like to live in Halle? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Halle is not a capital-like metropolian city. There is a very beautiful historical architecture in the city-centre. There are a couple of a really large libraries where you can find any literature in different languages. There is also a river and beautiful parks. I would recommend it for people who enjoy walks alongside the river, crowds of art-students and calm atmosphere.

What is the student lifestyle like in Halle?

Students of Burg Giebichenstein Art and Design University are really hard-working. I don`t understand where they even find extra energy for having parties. Lots of them playing musical instruments in jams. Some of them are trying to participate in DAAD activities. But mostly, they are studying.

How much does it cost to live in Halle?

Accommodation costs vary from 250 to 350 euros per month. Cheapest is to live in a WG.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Halle? Is there any advice you can give?

It was horrible. I was late for booking any dormitory, so when semester started I lived in a hostel approximately two weeks and it costed a fortune.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food in the canteen was great. Veggy-doner was also good.

What places would you recommend visiting in Halle?

The Steintor-library, Burg Giebichenstein castle and the Peissnitz park.

Is it good to eat out in Halle? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I am not sure, it is pretty expensive. Although there are a lot of doner corners. But my favourite was Subway on the Marktplatz.

Is the nightlife good in Halle? Where is good to go?

It is nice to go to the Peissnitz park in the night and to listen to opera music.

What advice would you give future students heading to Halle?

Book the accomodation a looong before you arrive. Also buy the insurance inside your country. Try to start learn German language, you will need it 100%
