26 years-old guy looking for accommodation in Haarlem or Amsterdam

I am a Catalan 26-years-old guy and I am studying Architecture at the University of Girona, but I want to take a year-off so I am thinking of moving for one or two months to Haarlem / Amsterdam, because I have a friend of mine who I would like to stay with.
I am looking for easy-going, open-minded, serious, formal and polite roommates to share a room or an apartment with. I'm also looking to meet new friends over there and to learn the language as I might like to work over there in the future.
I am interested in moving there from 1-5th November to 24th December, but I can get adapted to other dates if that is necessary.
