What is it like to live in Gyumri? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Gyumri is the 2nd biggest city of Armenia. It is a nice mixture of old and new architectures. Life is very active in Gyumri.There are different places in Gyumri for active and passsive kinds of passtime.Gyumri is not that big .Here we never have traffic jams,the air is not poluted and there is no noise pollution as well.To sum up,Gyumri is an ideal place for the students who prefer to get a good education and enjoy the life far from the buzz of big cities.

What is the student lifestyle like in Gyumri?

In Gyumri we have a few Universities and Institutions.I am studying at Shirak State University. Here the lectures are organised in 2 terms (1st term 9:30-13-10 and 2nd term 13:30-17:00) according to the course you are taking. After the lessons students go to different places to organise the rest of the day like computer halls(freely suggested in University) cafes and so on.

How much does it cost to live in Gyumri?

Gyumri is a cheap city and we have many markets and shops where you can find the things you want cheaper . You can hire a flat for 50-60euro (you can find also cheaper ones) for electrocity - 4-5 euro gas- 6-8euro (in summer) water- 3-4 euro. Cafes food shops and clothings are also cheap here.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Gyumri? Is there any advice you can give?

Its not difficult to find accomodation in Gyumri. Our University ussually helps foreign students to find a one. We also have a hostel so they can e.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I am really in love with Armenian Cuisine and its not becouse i Im feom Armenai. There are a few food courts cafes where food is too cheap a slice of pizza might cost-0.5 euro mochito-1 euro shaurma 1.3euro cola-0.4euro and so on . My favouritedish is tolma (0.3 for 1 piece) or lahmajo 0.4 euro and so on.

What places would you recommend visiting in Gyumri?

In Gyumri we have Gorky park where you can take different attractions or just walk and have fun. We jave a cinema a theatre. We have nicr streets with a lot of aamazing lding to walk and have fun like Kirov,Rustavel.We have places wehe you can go and find yourself busy in everything like reading cooking watching films playing videogames and so on. Its called Lost and is near the city center. There are also faontains in city center behind the townhall.

Is it good to eat out in Gyumri? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

As a students I always eat outside.Its very cheap and tasty. MY favourite spats are Okay food court,Tashir pizza house, Light Garden cafe . In markets there are different tasty snaks you can buy .

Is the nightlife good in Gyumri? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is not bad in Gyumri. Alot of people go outside and have walk or go to cafes at night . The weather is too cool and its pleasur to walk.In front on of the theatre there is a big screen where different matches or concerts are transfered.

What advice would you give future students heading to Gyumri?
