What is it like to live in Guwahati? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Well, I am a native citizen of Guwahati and have lived here most of life. If you are a country person and like your peace and calm, then i would recommend this city, because every thing closes here at 8:00 P.M..Since it is located at the East , it is a city for the early risers.

What is the student lifestyle like in Guwahati?

There are not too many colleges and Universities here and the very few which are here are all located on the outskirts of the city.It is a little difficult when it comes to sourcing of materials for studies but food and shopping is reasonable.

How much does it cost to live in Guwahati?

Living expenses in the city is very reasonable,you can easily live with a monthly income of Rs. 15000, inclusive of eating out once in a while.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Guwahati? Is there any advice you can give?

Since I have always had a house here, I am not too fluent with the accommodation options.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Guwahati having its location in the east and a heavy influence of the Mongoloids, the taste buds are well suited for Asian food, there is an abundance of Bamboo shoot,Sesame seeds and other herbal spices and is used mainly in all its food items.

What places would you recommend visiting in Guwahati?

Guwahati as a city does not have scenic locations, but national parks like Kaziranga National Park, Cherrapunjee, etc are places of scenic beauty to be appreciated.

Is it good to eat out in Guwahati? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Ya, places like Naga Kitchen, Mainland China, Crackling Mustard, Delicacy are my favorite eat outs.

Is the nightlife good in Guwahati? Where is good to go?

No, the nightlife is nil here .There is only one active club which is worth visiting i.e. Tera Maya, which has a few people on the weekends.

What advice would you give future students heading to Guwahati?

I would say be focused on your studies, because you would have much to do apart from that!!!!!
