Experience in Gloucester, United Kingdom by Josh
What is it like to live in Gloucester? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Gloucester is a good city to live in if you know the areas to avoid. It is in a good location and no more than an hour away from Bristol, Birmingham, Swindon, Oxford, Worcester, The Forest of Dean and Wales. There are some interesting sites to see with a lot of history but on the entertainment front there is not much apart from the usual such as cinema, swimming, go karting, shopping. If you like sports Gloucester Rugby play in the centre of Gloucester. Gloucester also has a cricket team and Cheltenham Town Football Club is not too far away in neighbouring Cheltenham
What is the student lifestyle like in Gloucester?
Gloucester has a University so there is a student lifestyle but I would say its not as good as what you find in other cities. There are lots of local pubs dotted around the city which are good to visit. The only clubs are located in one street in the City Centre, some are good, some bad but I always end up disappointed to what I have experienced in other cities. A lot of people go to Cheltenham or even Bristol for a night out
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food is the same as what you would get in most places in Britain. No local dishes, just typical British dishes made with fresh local produce if you're lucky. For Cider drinkers there are lots of local Ciders around which come from Gloucestershire and neighbouring Herefordhire
What places would you recommend visiting in Gloucester?
The Cathedral, the docks, The Cotswolds, Gloucester Quays shopping centre, Gloucester Rugby, Cheltenham Town Football Club, The Forest of Dean, Folk Museum
