Experience in University of Gloucestershire, United Kingdom by Petra
Generally, what is University of Gloucestershire like?
It is true what they say, University years are the best years of your life. I loved studying here, the campus (Francis Close) has a periodic atmosphere, a truly special feeling walking around, not every uni has its own Chapel on site. You could always find a lecturer on campus who's door was open for questions and to offer you the needed push for progression.
What are the facilities like?
The extended hours IT Suit and printing facilities were a life saver during deadline periods. Our course, landscape architecture, had the privileged position of having our own working studio (open 24hrs) where we could settle in and it really has become our second home. Working together with your course mates till late hours has a special motivating effect and a great way of team building.
What are the tutors like?
Brilliant. I really wish for all students to have as inspirational, dedicated and knowledgeable tutors as we had at Landscape Architecture.
Are the lessons easy in University of Gloucestershire?
The lessons are clear and organised but the work itself is not easy. To perform well you will need to dedicate time and attention, research and read supportive literature, imply your creativity and existing knowledge and work for long hours at times to create a piece of work to be proud of. Exactly how it should be.
Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?
Freshers Fair, well organised, good to sign up for societies, will come away with lots of bits and pieces that will end up in the trash.
Summer Ball, personally I didn't really enjoy it, highlight was when my shoes fell off the Ferris Wheel.
SU live gig sessions, that's more like it, very cool.
Visit the Chapel for a cup of tea,a game of pool or to practice your piano skills.
Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?
Yes.
Are there any stories you can share?
