The city center as seen from the belvedere of the Boekentoren (central university library). The large building on the foreground is called the "Plateau", named after Joseph Plateau, a physicist and native of the city who was one of the pioneers of the moving image that would later become cinema. The building houses a part of the faculty of arts (mostly exotic languages) and a part of the faculty of engineering. It also has a small observatory with a really cool old telescope, open to the public every week! It's a real maze though!
