What is it like to live in Genova? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Genova is a great city to live. It's close to the most beautiful landscapes in Liguria and it's very central and easy to get to. The city's architecture is stunning, especially the Old Town, which is considered the biggest medieval center in Europe.

What is the student lifestyle like in Genova?

Genova is also a university city, so students are everywhere. It is not as small as most student cities, but since faculty is concentrated downtown, you can find lots of cozy bars and cafés which attract mostly students.

How much does it cost to live in Genova?

Life in Genova is overall cheap. Rent is not very expensive. You can live in a nice appartment with your own private room for less than 400 euros per month.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Genova? Is there any advice you can give?

I found my accommodation rather quickly. There are several website you can use to search for housing and it should not be a problem.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Hmmm the food! Nothing better than the food there! I used to eat Focaccia almost everyday! My favorite dishes include Trofie al Pesto, which is said to be traditionally Genovese, any other kind of pasta (we're in Italy after all), and Focaccia di Recco!

What places would you recommend visiting in Genova?

Via Garibaldi is one of the main pedestrian streets in Genova, and houses several historical Palazzi, such as the Palazzo Rosso and Palazzo Bianco. The old town is also a must see. Its narrow little streets are a treat for photographers looking for perfect urban shots. The beaches around Genova are also very beautiful. I'd suggest Bogliasco, Nervi, Rapallo, and Sestri Levante.

Is it good to eat out in Genova? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are several good spots in Genova. The best way is to lose yourself downtown and find a cozy little restaurant. I am sure you won't be disappointed!

Is the nightlife good in Genova? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is not the best in Genova. There are several bars and nightclubs that are open until around 2AM, around the port. I would recommend Banana Tsunami, and some bars in the Old Town. However, it is always safer to go with a group, because if you're not familiar with the center, you might get yourself lost or end up in a bad part of town.

What advice would you give future students heading to Genova?

Come to Genova! It's a great city! I had no idea it would be this nice when I moved here and I was surprised! I am sure you won't regret it.
