Why did you choose to go to Genoa, Italy?

I chose to go to Genova because I wanted to go to a completely different country for my ERASMUS exchange. Also, I chose Italy because of the better weather conditions.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I received 450 euros each month. I was there for six months.

What is the student lifestyle like in Genoa?

It all depends on the professors you choose. I had a very good experience. All the professors were really nice and helpful. I do not speak fluent Italian so they generated a special course for me in english which was very nice.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Genoa to other students?

yes, of course! erasmus is a very special program. no matter where you go, you will have an amazing time. Genova was very welcoming. i met very nice people there. there arent too many clubs, but students make their own house parties that are always fun. university is also very good, but be careful because most professors do expect you to speak italian

What is the food like?

italian cuisine is amazing. it is famous worldwide! and of course it tastes the best in italy :)

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Genoa?

no. there are many ads about accommodation in all the faculties of the university and hostels

How much does it cost to live in Genoa?

200 euros/month for rent, and about 300-400 euros extra for food, travelling, etc..

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

its quite easy if you force yourself to speak as much as possible. yes, we had free language course. its important to learn some italian, because most local people dont speak english

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Genoa from your city?

by plane (wizzair) to milano and then train to genova

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Genoa?

Milk club :)))))

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Genoa?

try aperitivos!

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

the whole liguria region is very interesting, many museums in Genova, also house of C. Columbus. one of my favorite places to go to was the piazza de ferrari. not so much for the culture but for the vibe of the city :)

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Genoa in the future?

just to enjoy it. i know many students feel lost when they come to a new country. i know i did at first. make as many friends as possible because they make erasmus experience unforgettable. try new things and be fearless ;)
