I want to find a house NOW!

Belgians have to need liquids!! (so much beer...)

Hi! I\'m Emanuela, italian, and I\'m here in Mons since January, studying architecture.

Chapter 1: city
The first impression I had about the city (and Belgium) was really bad: I arrived in a cold and rainy place, I lost my favourite cap and my luggage fell in a puddle... :O it was tragic! Moreover, the road from the station to the dormitory is all uphill!.. BAD!
In practice, though, Mons is a really nice city: it\'s not so big, but there\'s everything one can need. It\'s full of student and, then, full of Eramus\' one!! We spend our night in different pub (the Irish\' or the Cuban\'s one usually) or in the dormitory\'s pub, where almost every thursday there\'s a party, thanks to the brotherhood who organize all! Almost all the erasmus\' students live in the dormitory (where you can have a room with or without toilette :/ ) and we eat all togethers in one of the ten kitchens..
Other things you can find in Mons are: a McDonald -for craps\'addicted :), a shopping mall, a swimming pool, a sports center and many, many, many shops (every kind of.. it\'s full!) that unfortunately close up at 6 pm (maximum).
For the art and architecture lovers here you can find the \"Beffroi\" (a kind of bell tower, symbol of the city), the St. Waudru Cathedral and a Museum of Contemporary Art, in addition to the Grand Place, of course.
Here people is really kind and hospitable, very organized (in every office you go they give you all information you need) and always smiley! I do swear!
Little problem: they ALWAYS drink beer! At any time (believe me) and in any place they\'re always with the glass in the end, which is not a problem if they did not believe that we are so used (they offer you beer like water :/ ).

Chapter 2: university (I study architecture so I can speak about it)
Teachers are really kind and helpful, above all with erasmus\'students. But here:
- you have to go to the classes every day (it\'s not really like Italy)
- they frequently give you homework :O
- if you can\'t go to a class, you have to inform the teacher (somebody asks a certificate)
- classes are really small (from six to maximum twenty persons)
Finally, compared with Italian professors, they are much more demanding.

Chapter 3: language
I came here without knowing a word in French. I attend a French course twice a week, but really more helpful is daily life. You have to try as more as possible (I often invent some words! :) ). And in two months I think I really improve myself! Now I can easily support a conversation with a companion and almost easily with a teacher!

Hope this experience will help someone!!!
Kisses, Emanuela
