Experience in University of the Basque Country, Spain by Liliane

Generally, what is University of the Basque Country like?

This university is new to me, however, the professors have shown desire to help new students to adapt themselves to learning a new language and local students have also been friendly and helpful.

What are the facilities like?

I am studying at Leioa, however, there are many other places in and around the city that this University owns. This Campus is enormous and has many modern facilities mixed in with some of the older ones. It is a ways out of the city and so it offered a very different experience for someone who is used to being in a city center. The scenery is beautiful and they have an enormous modern gym.

Are the lessons easy in University of the Basque Country?

I cannot say as I have only started.

Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?

The university does not offer any activities, however, students often organize political meetings and various social events independently. Of course, if you are Erasmus, you will be connected to an incredible amount of events anyway, so there is no lack of events in general!

Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?

The professors seem to be dedicated to their school and care about their students. I cannot speak about the quality of teaching yet as I am new however the small size of the classes definitely adds to the academic experience, in my opinion, as it generates more discussion.

Are there any stories you can share?

I adore my time here as an Erasmus+ student for now! The Erasmus community of international students is amazing here. Everyone has fascinating opinions and diverse backgrounds to add to the mix and I feel very grateful to be getting to know them all. There are cultural and culinary activities and it is possible to practise kayaking, hiking, surfing, and so much more. It is unlimited with Erasmus students.
