What is it like to live in Dubai? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Rented accommodation is quite expensive. The food and clothing are relatively cheaper than in Europe. One can get good bargain in downtown bazar like deira and bur Dubai. and if you go further east/North towards sharjah, OR ajman, you can find cheaper rented accommodation and clothing.

It is a safe clean and quiet city with many good Shopping malls. There is a high fine for drunk driving and drinking in public.

How much does it cost to live in Dubai?

Accommodation is expensive in Dubai.. there are no youth hostels. If one is for a short period of time, you can easily lease a property or rent a car.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Dubai? Is there any advice you can give?

It is easy to find accommodation, the best way is to look in classified of local English language papers.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

You can have all sort of foods as there are people from all over the world. Arabic, Lebanese, Egyptian, Turkish Asian and Chinese and is cheaper too. 1 good shawarma (Donner) of chicken or lamb meat cost around 5 AED. A coke of 330ml, 1. 5 AED, or one full grilled chicken 15 AED (pork is not available publicly but only frozen in some supermarkets in specific area).

My Fav dishes are Shawarma, coal grilled fish, and Mutton Biryana

What places would you recommend visiting in Dubai?

Deira, Bur Dubai for bargain Shopping and cheap Food. For Camping Hatta, for swimming Jumeira Public beach, the sand is smooth and leveled.

Is it good to eat out in Dubai? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, it is good and safe as food inspection is strict from municipality.

For quality and cheap Asian food, the following restaurants are good:

1. Ravi Restaurant. Satwa

2. Dehli Darbar Restaurant. Naif Road, Deira.

3. Dehli Restaurant (it is one of the oldest). Naif Road, Deira

4. Daily Restaurant. Karama

For Coal grilled Fish, you have Aden Restaurant on Dubai sharjah Road ( it will on the left side opposite Ansar mall)

For Arabic food, Urus Al Damishq (Syrian Resturant) in Muraqqabat behind Hamarain Center.

Is the nightlife good in Dubai? Where is good to go?

There is an Irish club near Aviation Club Deira. There are few nightclubs on Jumirah Road such as Grand Hayatt, Burj al Arab, and often international European and American music performances.
