I´m going to tell you about my village: Guadalupe, in Extremadura. In the late thirteenth or early of XIV, began the history of this sanctuary.

A pastor from Cáceres, Gil Cordero, found along the Guadalupe River an image of the Virgin Mary, that some Christians had hidden in Sevilla these mountains during the Reconquista, while fleeing the Arab invasion. The pastor got up here a chapel in which the image.

The monastery, has an area of twenty-two thousand square meters approx. During its long history, seven centuries of faith and culture, the Royal Monastery has accumulated many titles around their image as the venerable Heritage Humanity in 1993, and the Declaration September 8, feast of the Patron Virgin, as the Day of Extremadura. I hope you wanna go there. See you in Guadalupe!
