Experience in Cairo University, Egypt by Mohamed
Generally, what is Cairo University like?
Generally speaking it is acceptable. It depends on the faculty that you will be enrolled in. Engineering (credit hour system) and Economics and Political Science are the best. You can easily interact with the people there and the professors. Generally speaking, the University system is so rigid and inflexible. However, there are some efforts from some faculties like faculty of commerce (which is the Business School) tend to be more flexible nowadays by changing the grading system into credit hour system.
What are the facilities like?
Computer labs, laboratories (Some of them are so old, depending on the faculty), the central library is good but you have to pay some little fees to enter.
What are the tutors like?
Their English is not so good. However, you can understand them. Noting that, unfortunately, if the foreigners in the class are few, which is usually the case, they will give the lecture in both English and Arabic. So it might not be so easy.
Are the lessons easy in Cairo University?
Yes to some extend.
Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?
Sportive activities, sometimes concerts, conferences. It depends on the time you will come at.
Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?
Yes I am confident in that. but take care of the language.
