Last year was a really amazing period of my life because I visited a lot of wonderful places in Italy, thanks to a 10-months scholarship offered by Erasmus Mundus. This country can boast of one of the oldest and outstanding cultural heritage in Europe, partially preserved after the fall of the Roman Empire. Every time I walked along the streets of Italian cities and small tows (such as Cesena where I was living), I had an impression that I was visiting the largest open-air old museums in the world! Everything was full of medieval atmosphere: buildings, roads, bridges and castles with a slight hue of modern life.
In Cesena I found my "foxhole" where I could come alone or with some friends to meditate and discuss important life moments. Making just few steps from a contemporary bustling part of Cesena – and you are in the heart of the Middle Ages or Renaissance: via Papa! Streets are becoming more and more narrow... and we are reaching the core of the town - La Rocca Malatestiana di Cesena! Look at these two eyes of the remaining medieval walls of the Rocca - they are watching you! Or the fortress... it seems it hears you.. your every step and every breath... I strongly believe these walls keep a lot of secrets from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and our century. If you get tired, you may find a proper place to have a rest in a small forest belonging to the fortress, and to watch the sunset, for example. Every person may find its "foxhole" here to meditate in the silence of Italian heritage, if he feels tired from the everyday rush.
