I was studying in Bydgoszcz from October 2010 to January 2011 at Wyzsza Szkola Gospodarki. Well, there are more famous and more beautiful cities in Poland but I have to say that I love Bydgoszcz after my Erasmus stay.

When you want to stay in Poland during winter time prepare yourself for sometimes quite tough winter conditions. Good shoes, warm coat and a bottle of Polish vodka is a necessary equipment for students there.

Yeah, Polish vodka. I think almost every Erasmus student in Poland have to at least try this traditional drink. There are plenty possibilities in clubs, bars and pubs. The city center is not much big but there are lot of pubs/clubs with different kind of music. Thanks the small size of the center it's easy to walk inside and not using town transportation.

I can recommend these bars: El Jazz (jazz, very nice atmosphere, concerts), Mozg (really famous in alternative scene, festivals, concerts... ), Kredens (the most popular disco club with really original decoration), Trip (lot of space for dancing and sitting, disco/rock music), Kubryk (big music house, music: disco, rock, reggae... ) and Tequila (comfortable couches, cheap shots of tequila/drinks, perfect for huge parties). There are the most visited and most popular for foreign/Polish students and young people.

Polish people that I met there were always very friendly and kind to me. It can seem that they cannot speak English well but they are rather shy to speak. Young Polish folks love parties, dancing, drinking and having fun. I recommend to attend a concert in Poland 'cause the people there can make amazing atmosphere.

Bydgoszcz is just a normal city but spot for traveling. It's just about 3 hours from the Baltic sea and wonderful Gdansk with its suburbs Sopot and Gdynia. Moreover Ryanair offer really cheap flights to UK from Bydgoszcz Airport.

It's hard to sum up everything that I experienced there but I would really support everybody to go there for Erasmus. It wasn't my first stay in abroad for longer time nevertheless I loved it there. It was great fun, adventure and experience for me.

Don't be sitting at home and go to Bydgoszcz! Erasmus is just once in a life!

I´m going to Bydgoszcz next course! What is better/cheaper an apartment or a residence?

I had just two options for accommodation from Wysza Szkola Gospodarki - the shool hotel and rent a flat on my own. The hotel cost 320 zl per month and it was said that it was cheap accommodation almost in the city center so I decided for it. Unfortunately I cannot say how apartment costs. You can contact my friend Peter Pintér who is also in the group Bydgoszcz here and he was living in students\' residence Blonie (and he\'ll be there also for next course). I was in that residence few times and it\'s really nice furnitured and pretty new. Moreover it\'s closed to shopping mall and close to city center. Another option of accommodation is students\' residence in part of town called Fordon, it\'s from UTP Univesity. I wasn\'t there but I heard that Fordon is really old and not nice at all. Moreover it\'s far from the city center. On the other side you can do there whatever you want - parties in the corridor, noise, nobody cares who you want to take to your room for night... I remember that some other guys were living somewhere else, another students\' dormitory, but I don\'t remember the name... Enjoy Bydgoszcz and your Erasmus!!! ;)
