Why did you choose to go to Burgos, Spain?

I was offered a place in Burgos and I wanted to learn Spanish and was advised it was one of the best places to learn in Spain.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

6 months, over €800.

What is the student lifestyle like in Burgos?

I am doing an internship as part of my degree so both work and studying, so it hard to balance but good. I have made friends at work as well as where I live with other students. The rent and food is cheap and people are friendly.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Burgos to other students?

I would recommend Burgos.

What is the food like?

Lots of options, I do not eat meat but there are fish and vegetarian options and very tasty.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Burgos?

No, there are lots of websites online which give you the owners contact details for free and visiting the rooms or apartments are easy.

How much does it cost to live in Burgos?

My rent plus internet cost €180, but my room is quite small. A bigger room is max €230, the food is cheap if you eat out or cook at home. Example bananas, strawberries and apples cost me €4 altogether.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

If you have not studied any Spanish no, but if you have help from friends you should pick it up after a while. I advise you to download Google translate for help. Yes, there are language courses but it depends on your timetable and what level you start at.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Burgos from your city?

The easiest is all depends on flight times, as you can fly to madrid and then get the ALSA (bus) but that takes 2. 5 hours after flight long day. Or fly to Valladolid and get train to Burgos, train is about 1hour so quicker.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Burgos?

I do not really know the names of the bars I have visited, but there are quite a few good ones and student house parties are fun.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Burgos?

There are a few, but I am bad with names sorry.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The cathedral, the museum, the castle and library.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Burgos in the future?

It is cheap so pack as light as possible, do not worry people are friendly so even if you do not speak Spanish they will help you. Download google translate and make sure you rent a house with Internet already put in place and have fun.
