What is it like to live in Brussels? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's a beautiful, exciting and multicultural city with many opportunities. Also the people are nice and kind. I would definitely recommend it.
Winter is foggy, rainy and unpleasant, however, from May the weather is much comfortable.
Public transport is often chaotic and Brussels is well known for its crazy drivers.

What is the student lifestyle like in Brussels?

Exciting, reckless and fun. Education is on a high level, and the student community is converging and helpful.

How much does it cost to live in Brussels?

I come from Central/Eastern Europe and prices were surprisingly high to me of course, but they say food is outstandigly expensive even compared to Western European conutries. (1 kg bread ~3€)
Also it is cheaper to shop at Aldi or Lidl than Delhaize/Carrefour.
The cheapest rooms are about 400€.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Brussels? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not difficult to find one, there are lot of Facebook groups where you can easily find a place to rent.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The most popular national dishes are waffles and fries- I love them but would only recommend them once in a while...

What places would you recommend visiting in Brussels?

Grande Place with all the old city center area, Parc du Cinquantenaire and Bois de la Cambre (mostly all parks) and Atomium.
For me Manneken Pis and Jeanneke Pis were a disappointment, but they are also a must see.

Is it good to eat out in Brussels? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are lots of restaurants in the center.
However, my two favourite spots so far are the Il Nobile pizzeria (delicious Italian pizzas) and Ninja House where I fell in love with sushi and you can have 'all you can eat' for 20€. Definitely worth it.

Is the nightlife good in Brussels? Where is good to go?

Yes, totally. Lot of bars and pubs in the center and in Ixelles. By night buses (Noctis) or Collecto it's easy to get home in the middle of the night.

What advice would you give future students heading to Brussels?

Don't be surprised, you're going to enjoy it.
