What is it like to live in Brussels? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Brussels is a nice city to live in. It is not too big, people are friendly, it has a lot of parks and gardens. They say The Grand Place is the most beautiful in the world, that is not a myth!
What is the student lifestyle like in Brussels?
There are several campuses in Brussels, which are connected with public transports. During the semester you have lots of time to party, at the end of the semester, you have 2 weeks to study hard for exams.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Brussels? Is there any advice you can give?
There are a lot of groups on Facebook to share flats. If you are looking for a shared flat with only students, try with Kotter à Bruxelles. A kot is a flat in both french and dutch.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The most famous dish is mussles with belgian fries, but you can find all types of food.
What places would you recommend visiting in Brussels?
The Grand Place, Manneken Pis, the Atomium, Place Poelaert, les Beaux arts, the gardens of Laeken...
Is it good to eat out in Brussels? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
The best spots are around the "cimetière d'Ixelle", quite cheap restaurants where many students and young workers go. Also Schievelavabo (there are 3 in Brussels).
Is the nightlife good in Brussels? Where is good to go?
In the city center there are many bars (near the Grand Place), if you are looking for a more fancy place you can go to the Jeux d'Hiver. Chez Ginette is also a nice place to dance.
What advice would you give future students heading to Brussels?
Don't hesitate and come!
