What is it like to live in Brussels? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Capital of Europe! So many cultures. Sometimes, for belgian native, you have the impression to live abroad. Definetely a great experience !
What is the student lifestyle like in Brussels?
There is a belgian spirit for Uni lifestyle. One word : PARTIES!
Lot of classes are not compulsory. So you usually just attend seminar! Unfortunately we have the "blocus" which is period when you have no classes and u have to study - a lot- because exam are hugeeeee.
How much does it cost to live in Brussels?
It depends. As every city, if you are in the hype area it can be expensive. But if you share a flat with other students in the student district it can be cheap !
*Student place to drink : 90cents for a beer ! but if u go near the european district it is almost 4 euros
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Brussels? Is there any advice you can give?
Not really! Everything is on internet. You have platforms dedicated to house-flat renting for students. But what i recommend is to go on Facebook groups!
There is always better opportunities (and cheaper) !
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
It's really multicultural in brussels. You have a lot of "brasseries" but also asian-mexican-arab food. Always something new to try !
What places would you recommend visiting in Brussels?
City center. Really small but worth it.
After that the atomium.
And after to experiment the student life "cimetière d'ixelles" is definitely the place. There is also the international district "Flagey"where i live.
Is it good to eat out in Brussels? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yup! Nice spots. Just walk around and check for nice restaurants and what you wanna eat.
Near Flagey you have so many places with different foods : veggie-sushis-ramen-burgers-italian food-...
Is the nightlife good in Brussels? Where is good to go?
YES!
If you are student u have to try student parties .You will love it ... OR not haha!
Be ready! "Jefke" is a place where all students are partying every nights (during the week). U can also go near Alma station. U will find student parties from another Uni.
If you are more "classical" you have also nice spots in cimetière d'ixelles (El café, 7/7,...) or in the city center!
