Why did you choose to go to Brussels, Belgium?

I wanted to learn french, it was the only place where I could go via university of Lapland and not on my own and there i could also learn something about cinematography.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

one year, around 600€/month

What is the student lifestyle like in Brussels?

it was perfect for me. easy-going, people are nice and helpful, not stressful.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Brussels to other students?

definitely!

What is the food like?

The best! fresh and good!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Brussels?

yes.

How much does it cost to live in Brussels?

in the central, i lived first in a really bad studio, which cost me 400€ + electricity. then my first landlord (st-catherine, rue d'ophem 46), Mustapha Amrani, stoled my laptop and broked my door as he also told me that it could have been someone else around the place. after a while he tried everything to get me out of the place because I called cops several times and syndicates des locataires, he was so afraid that he tried also to poison my small dog with a rat poison. I moved away and my new place was cool.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

yes there are, but it's easier if you know the language beforehand.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Brussels from your city?

to take a flight

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Brussels?

rock classique, la porte noire,

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Brussels?

there are several! especially the sushi places were awesome!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Brussels in the future?

take care of yourself and your friends. most of the time is safe but don't trust everyone.
