As part of a discovery experience organised by my old school for a few months, I was able to spend two weeks in April 2017 discovering an Italian city called Brescia! It's in the north of Italy!

It only took me one day to get there by bus (Angers-Nantes) and plane (Nantes-Milan), and then another bus from Milan to Brescia! To return, I took two planes (Milan-Paris), (Paris-Nantes0, and then the bus (Nantes-Angers)!

Once we got there, we were brought to a youth hostel, where we were all split up, either to stay in this hostel or with host families, whichever we wanted!

This two-week programme was held from Monday to Friday. We worked in each structure that we chose - mine was a religious elementary school! The weekends were dedicated to visiting particular cities!

First and foremost, I'm going to tell you about these different cities! We were delighted to be able to discover Brescia, Lake Iseo, Verona and Venice, accompanied each time by a tour guide... apart from in Venice, where the tour guide stood us up! It was really magnificent! The only disappointment was Lake Iseo, which is isolated from everything, and there is not much to do except walk and eat. But you can get a boat which brings you around, without making you feel sea sick! Venice is a magnificent city, despite being crowded! I had the opportunity of discovering the balcony where Romeo and Juliet stood (did this really happen or is it just a story? I don't know), during a wedding! There's a statue just under the balcony, and they told us that the newly-weds had to touch the statue's breast for good luck and happiness!

My course in the school was really enjoyable and educational; I was with a classmate, I could teach French to the children and they learned about our culture! This showed the huge difference between daily life in Italy and daily life in France! At the end of the course, we were still sad to leave!

During my stay, I stayed with a family of three people and a dog! They were all very kind and welcoming towards me! We were able to continue talking by mail when I was in France! We were torn apart too soon!

I have only positive things to say about this trip - apart from the transport, because I have to say that it wasn't easy to get around! If you don't know your way around, you will get lost very quickly, because you have to be independent!

Nevertheless, I recommend visiting with family, friends, or even your partner!

If I had to rate my preferences, I would say:

1-Food (delicious)

2- Weather (most of the time it's sun, sun, sun)

3- Culture and customs (interesting to learn about and modern)

4- Architecture and landscapes (magnificent)

5- Going out (if you like going out there is stuff to do)

6- Recreation and free time

7- Price (reasonable)

8- Transport

The Italians are cheerful and welcoming!
