Why did you choose to go to Braga, Portugal?

Because I believe it's different, it's that charming type of cities that exist in the calm corner of the world that is rich in history. Add on that the hospitality and generosity of the people, for me Portuguese people are the best to live among!

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

No scholarship.

What is the student lifestyle like in Braga?

Classes, uniforms (I honestly call them the Harry Potters) and they are most of the time in the streets near the university and it makes you feel so alive even if it's not your best day. And at night I guess parties but I am not so much into them. You also have academic nights on Wednesdays.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Braga to other students?

Of course!

What is the food like?

They have many types of food, but for me the best would be Francesinha, Pastel De Nata, Duck Rice and Cod Fish (infinity of ways to cook it). We can say that food is actually fish most of the time so you will love Portugal if you're a fish lover.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Braga?

Yes, but it is going to be good compared to other cities, even in other european countries if you try to find something earlier before the beginning of the academic year.

How much does it cost to live in Braga?

200 euros (excluding accommodation) is more than enough.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Hard to explain the language but for me it's a very attractive one. Like a mix between the sounds of Italian with it's musical and charming sounds and German with it's strictness and seriousness.

You can learn Portuguese at BabeliUM at the University of Minho, there is a Portuguese course each semester and an intensive one in July.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Braga from your city?

I am from Alexandria, Egypt so there is no easiest or most economical way...

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Braga?

Taberna Belga.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Bom Jesus, Sameiro and the city center!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Braga in the future?

Never step out of your place without your umbrella, I mean it!
