A brief overview of the languages spoken in Senegal to enrich my text:
There is a great linguistic diversity across languages in Senegal. The 2001 Constitution recognized19 French as an official language and Wolof, the language spoken by the largest number of people (90% of Senegalese) even from other ethnic groups - Serer, Fulani, Mandinka, Soninke and Diola - as the official language and six as the national languages. Five other vernacular languages were promoted shortly thereafter: hassanya, balante, mancagne, noon and manjaque; followed by three other languages: ménik, oniyan and saafi-saafi; other codified languages are being added. In total, nearly twenty languages could benefit from the status of national language in Senegal.
