Experience in Bologna, Italy by Viktorija
What is it like to live in Bologna? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
It's a student city. Full of parties, entertainment. But also a nice place to visit since it has history, architecture and great gastronomy.
What is the student lifestyle like in Bologna?
It's a lot of fun. There is no day when nothing is happening in the city. You cannot get bored in Bologna.
How much does it cost to live in Bologna?
A bed in a double bedroom in the city centre is around 230 eur/month. A Single room is about 320-350 eur/month and more.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Bologna? Is there any advice you can give?
It is quite difficult because it's a student city. I recommend speaking Italian with landlords.. Also searching while already in the city is a lot easier than just writing a lot of emails while still being home.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food is great. It has everything that is traditional for Italian cuisine. You can find very different places to eat there.
What places would you recommend visiting in Bologna?
All the historical monuments, I recommend making a tour of Towers since it's a city of Towers. San Luca, Due Torri, Sala Borsa (library), the university itself. Also the nightlife is great and there are a lot of different clubs - most of the good ones are quite far from the city centre though.
Is it good to eat out in Bologna? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
I don't have favorite spots but there were a lot of excellent places for Aperitivo in the very city centre. As well as some nice Tratoria's - but for those you might need to go a bit out of the city.
Is the nightlife good in Bologna? Where is good to go?
The nightlife is great and there are a lot of different clubs - most of the good ones are quite far from the city centre though.
What advice would you give future students heading to Bologna?
Enjoy everything and try as much as you can. There's always something happening in Bologna - during the day and during the night as well. I recommend exploring for new places and try out new things.
