Blantyre is a good town to live in and has good weather. It is active and named the commercial city of Malawi. Live is a bit affordable as compared to other city in Malawi.
What is the student lifestyle like in Blantyre?
It is expensive to live a student when it comes to tuition fee and most of student like social life like entertainment.
How much does it cost to live in Blantyre?
it is about $250/month for the sizable family which is very expensive for most of Malawians because majority live below poverty line and on average Malawi survives at less than $2 a day.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Blantyre? Is there any advice you can give?
Yes it very difficult. The proper way is to find a hosting family where you contribute something at the end of the month. Even private lodges and hotels are very expensive
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
We have different kinds of food in Malawi but the most common one at household level is nsima with different kinds of relish. My favourite dish rice/chips with chicken/meat with local vegetables
What places would you recommend visiting in Blantyre?
Museum, Cultural centres, Michiru mountain, Churches, Kamuzu View, Limbe and Blantyre martket and even other places outside Blantyre.
Is it good to eat out in Blantyre? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes it good. We have different restaurants for fast food, local foods, Vegetarian and market places. It is football.
Is the nightlife good in Blantyre? Where is good to go?
Yah it is good. Like nightclubs. Places like Chez-temba, Gland, Doogles, Blantyre Spots club, Mustang Sally
What advice would you give future students heading to Blantyre?
School first enjoyment letter. Don't be preoccupied with entertainment.
