Older, hip, tech-geek looking to live in Berlin

I am a grey beard geek embarking on the second stage of my life.  A Canadian born in the UK, I have grown up and made my career in eastern Canada in tech.  But, Berlin seems to be the city my soul is attracted to, and I don't feel 51 inside.   I travel for business a lot,  but more and more of it is in Europe. I also do a lot of work on my own, for my remote customers.  I am an Internet pioneer, someone who fixes stuff.

I am in the process of moving to Berlin, and I don't really know where or how I want to live yet, so I want to try a few things.  I am largely an introvert, and I often keep to myself, but at the same time, I would welcome new friends.  When Friday comes, I might be the one that drags you out...  I am pet friendly, cats usually like me.  I get along with many dogs, but generally prefer bigger dogs.  I like trains.

I am looking for a room large enough that I can do some work from home, unpack some computers and the like.  I suspect I'll wind up leasing some co-working space, or finding a compatible hacker/maker space eventually, but I don't really know yet.
