All of these titles are tested and evaluated by an editorial team of software expert editors that cover 10 different languages (Spanish, English, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Dutch, Japanese and Chinese).

The Editorial Assistant provides operational and editorial support to the editors that create articles, reviews and videos in our content department. Among other tasks, the Editorial Assistant guarantees the freshness and quality of our software database and editorial content, supports the editorial team in researching and manages image and video content on our pages.

Main responsibilities of the Editorial Assistant:

• Keep our software database updated by making sure the offered versions of the programs are the latest ones
• Control the quality of our software database and perform maintenance tasks to ensure information and related media (e.g. screenshots, videos) are correct/up to date
• Enrich our software database by publishing new programs without review or with a developer description
• Enrich our content  by creating images, screenshots and searching/publishing external videos
• Research information (e.g. news, technical data, articles, white papers, images) that can serve as sources for Editors to create content
• Manage a centralized library of images, videos and documents for the Content department

Requirements

Since we’re an international department and we expect our Editorial Assistants to provide support for multiple editorial teams that serve different language markets, advanced language skills are an absolute must to be considered for this role. Please note that Softonic’s working languages are English and Spanish; fluency in one of these is therefore required.

Must-haves:

• Language skills:
  
  • EITHER Native French AND fluency in at least one of the following languages: Portuguese, Polish, Dutch or German
  • OR Native German AND fluency in at least one of the following languages: Portuguese, Polish, Dutch or French
  • OR Native Polish, AND fluency in at least one of the following languages: Portuguese, Dutch, French or German
  • OR Native Dutch, AND fluency in at least one of the following languages: Portuguese, Polish, German or French
  • OR Native Portuguese, AND fluency in at least one of the following languages: Polish, Dutch, French or German
  • Fluency in English and, or Spanish
  • Good knowledge of Windows OS
  • Knowledge of image editing
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team player-attitude
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-moving, sometimes stressful environment
  • Adaptability to perform a wide variety of tasks
  • A self-starter, continuously looking for ways to improve both the business and the processes she/he runs
  • Strong time management skills
  • Capability to learn new tasks and improve skills in an autodidact way

Nice-to-haves:

• Good knowledge of software, the software industry and technology trends
• Experience with Content Management Systems
• Good writing skills
• On-line writing experience (blogging or similar)
