Blue Lake
Blue Lake is situated in the city Baia Sprie-. Maramures, in a forest on the southern Hill slope Mine at altitude of 530 m and has a surface area of 0.5 hm.
The Lake was formed by the collapse of old mining works on his questioner Miss in years 1919 - 1920 and it has been declared as protected area in 1977.
Blue Lake is unique in Romania.
Access to protected area shall be carried out in the center of the city Baia Sprie, moving up through the Catholic Church, in the street that lead us in the direction north up to forest edge.. Time 35 - 45 min.
Baia Sprie , is a city in Maramures county, with a population of approximately 16,000 inhabitants. It was one of important mining centers in Maramures.
Lake is one of the main points of attraction of tourists visiting mountain resorts Suior and Mogosa Gutai Mountains. Former students schools sciences faculties and students of nature of mining at the university of Baia Mare have taken over the years studies for search on this lake formation and causes which determin tried to determined what makes the water chance its coulour.
Upstream of lake is the second lake, Mogosa, a chalet Resort, ski slopes and cable car installations. The two lakes close shall be visited by Romanian and foreign tourists all the year.
The scenery is very nice, clean air, and the green beauty of lake brings a bit of mystery. There are all sorts of stories, one more spectacular and more mysterious than others. No one checked or confirmed.
