What, where and how is Antwerp?

Antwerp is located in the homonymous province of Antwerp, in north Belgium. It's around 45 km north from country's capital city, and European Union's capital city, of Brussels and 16 km south from the border with the Netherlands.

It's the 2nd city in terms of population in Belgium, with a bit more than 500.00 inhabitants, and Europe's most multicultural city, with more than 168 different nationalities within.

The city spreads to both flanks of the Scheldt river, lying the most of the city at the right side. This makes Antwerp the 2nd port in Europe, just behind the one from Rotterdam (in the Netherlands).

Antwerp is not a 'big city' when talking about its skyline, despite a few recognisable buildings, such as the Boerentoren -Farmer's Tower-, being nowadays home of the KBC bank, or the OLV Kathedraal -Onze Lieve Vrouwekathedraal, Cathedral of Our Lady-.

The city has a vast majority of two-floored or three-floored buildings, these being single-family houses in the southern neighbourhoods. In the centre, there are several classical buildings being ancient union buildings (such as carpenter's, tailor's, etc.) and lots of others having lots of rooms (named 'kots') to be rented for the forthcoming national and international students coming to the city year by year.
