Economics has always fascinated me as I believe it is extremely interesting to study the resources and demands of society and how these interact on a global and international scale. I am also particularly interested in the how economics interacts with business growth and development. My academic interests such as accounting, political economy and mathematics as well as my extra-curricular activities have provided me with the knowledge and confidence to pursue and excel in a degree in “Economics and Business Economics”.

My parents have always given me the freedom of choice in terms of professional and academic development, however, I believe it is only natural I was influenced by them anyway. Throughout my childhood, my father, as a business man, used to take me to work with him. This opportunity gave me the chance to observe many business activities, such as meetings with suppliers and clients, from a young age. I believe this is what sparked my interest in the business world. This exposure in combination with my natural inclination for Economics, reassure me that “Economics and Business Economics” is the best and natural academic option for me.

This programme will allow me to explore fundamental topics within Economics such as microeconomics and macroeconomics, cost benefit analysis and productivity. Finance is another aspect of Economics I look forward to exploring, and is the reason why I undertook accounting as one of my major subjects at school. In addition to my academic development, I expect to enhance my soft skills such as leadership, managerial and communication skills. The fact that the programme offers internship and study abroad opportunities will allow me to implement all my academic knowledge into a practical setting and develop my professional work skills.
