19 years old looking for housing in Amsterdam

Hi,
I am a 19 years old Italian student and I am looking for a one/two rooms apartment for my male mate and me in Amsterdam, and we can pay a maximum of around 500€ per month each.
I will be studying in the University of Amsterdam political science, while he will attend SAE, so we plan to stay in Amsterdam for at least 3 years.
We won't probably be having parties over but may host some visitors sometimes, and we do not own any pet.
The apartment could be in the outskirts of the city as well as in any other part or village around it.
