Experience in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates by Susana
What is it like to live in Abu Dhabi? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Abu Dhabi is a cultural hub. There are so many people from many different corners of the world, and you get to share your culture openly with them. The city has many different places to eat, shop, and hang out, such as Corniche road, which is the road next to the ocean. Here you can walk on the walkway next to the beach and see many different families and people enjoying their time. Al Maryah Island and Reem Island are beautiful places to hang around in, as well as Yas Island, which features Yas Mall, Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, and more. I would definitely recommend Abu Dhabi to someone who doesn’t mind most attractions being indoors, due to the hot and humid weather (except around winter, which reaches temperatures as low as 12°C).

What advice would you give future students heading to Abu Dhabi?
Expect hot weather and remember to dress modestly to respect others. Modesty is a big part of the culture here, so whenever possible, cover your knees and shoulders (there’s places that are more accepting of skin showing but out of respect to the muslim community, try your best to cover up.
