Art in Norway... ¿Erotic in Spain?

Probably you are wondering what I am refering to with that title, right? I am talking about Vigelandsparken or the park of Vigeland, the biggest park of the city of Oslo.

The real name is not this one, but everybody call it Vigeland, because it collected more than two hundreds of statues of the sculptor Gustav Vigeland, who arrived to an agreement with the city of Oslo which he spent more than 20 years to sculpt and shape everything in the park. When he passed away, his house turned into a museum and the park into a permanent exposition of all his works.

Certainly the park is enormous and beautiful. Personally, I highlight three zones: the first of them is the tallest part, where there are many statues of naked bodies around a big column sculpted with human bodies. Some of them have some very funny faces.

If you go down stairs, you will find the second part, composed by the fountain where there are more statues holding it. The last part is the bridge kept by statues in both sides.

Here it goes the explanation of my title: erotic. Many Spanish would see this place like that. It is not because I think we are uncivilized, but the visits I had confirmed me it.

My friend Jose Carlos commented he liked the park, but it would be impossible to have one in his home town because they would talk about everything except the real meaning of the statues. They would only joke about the statue.

Then my brother, who was a teenager, made hundred jokes about the position of the bodies.

Vigelandsparken is a beautiful place, but if you are Spanish you know what you can find there, get ready, cause this time, you will see different dressed statues.

Do you want to know how to get there? I will explain, because it is really easy. As it is located in this map, you can take the t-bane and stop in Majorstuen. From there, if you do not mind walking 10 minutes, you can walk downstreet over Essendrops gate. If you do not like walking you can take the tram number twelve, which is in front of the Majorstuen station. There are only two stops, you recognise the name because it takes the park name.

If you go to Oslo, visit Vigeland because it is worth it. In winter is beautiful as you can see on my pictures, although, if you go in Spring you will enjoy it more cause of the green grass and its sunny days.
