Aquaculture Technician Internship

The AquaBioTech Group actively encourages students and post-graduates to undertake training sessions at our company so as to gain valuable practical, applied and hands-on experience. The internships we offer will be of a minimum four monthperiod.

The primary task requires a person who is highly motivated and prepared to work long hours and rotating shifts at the group’s R&D facility with a team of international staff that are based in Malta. The person will be involved in all aspects of the research facility, including live-feed, algae, larval rearing and nutrition trials as well as daily tasks that include general maintenance of the recirculation systems, water quality testing, sample weighing, feeding, dissections and other experimental requirements.
More specifically during his internship the student will be requested to undertake tasks related to:

Commercial R&D

• Vaccine development.
• Efficacy of dietary supplements
• Feed (protein) testing.
• Efficacy of health products
• New and innovative technology.

European research projects

• Ecotoxicology
• Environmental monitoring.
• Bio-plastics as water treatment tools.
• New and innovative technology.

Internal R&D

• Technology benchmarking.
• Species benchmarking.

The student will report directly to the R&D Operations Manager. The position is demanding requiring a person who is highly motivated, methodical and organised.
