What is it like to live in Klaipeda? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It is nice to visit Klaipeda and live there. It is my original hometown, thus if somebody needs help I can always give advice. To live in there means to have everything close to you- the city is not very huge and easy accessible. There are many good shops, malls, cafés and bars both in the city centre and in all the city. I really love and would recommend to see the old town, it looks lovely and also the most important as for me- Klaipeda is located by the seaside, and to get there is very easy!

What is the student lifestyle like in Klaipeda?

I didn't study in my hometown Klaipeda, straight after the gymnasium I went to study full time course in England. However, my ex class mates and friends, who stayed there, are quite happy with their student lifestyle in there. They have many things to do at university and apart of it. From their words, it is very organised and every time they have parties, trips, and various kind of different activities.

How much does it cost to live in Klaipeda?

To live in Klaipeda as for the foreigner will seem as very cheap. For example, you can find to rent a flat in a good area/the city centre just for less than 150-200EUR, even sometimes with all bills included. Travel pass for all the buses (as in Klaipeda we mostly use just buses) cost aprox. 5EUR for a month+ travel pass card for 2EUR which you have to get once and then every month you just top up it. Food is not that expensive as for the foreigner as well, depends what you buy.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Klaipeda? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not difficult, but you have to know where and how to search for it. Sure, if there is a need- feel free to email me here for any kind of questions about Klaipeda.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The only thing I can say- it is quite heavy. We have good traditional dishes, for example- cepelinai, which is usually made from potatoes and meat, and you may try it in most of the cafés which serve food. I don't have any kind of favourite food, however I do really like zemaiciu blynai, which is also one of traditional dishes in Lithuania.

What places would you recommend visiting in Klaipeda?

Definitely, the old town, the park of sculptures and the city centre worth visiting it. Other parts are just fine as for me.

Is it good to eat out in Klaipeda? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Depends on what you prefer. From the most expensive and excellent bars and cafes you may either choose Friedricho pasazas or restaurants which are located in the hotel of Klaipeda (you can find it in the the heart of the city centre). For cheaper ones, Charlie and Cili are probably not bad. Also, you can find it in the city centre.

Is the nightlife good in Klaipeda? Where is good to go?

I can't say it's really good in Klaipeda, however you might like a few clubs which are Doctor Who and Fabric.

What advice would you give future students heading to Klaipeda?

There is nothing to worry about, really. Everything is so close. If you wish to know anything else- just email me, I am happy to help you.
