Hey Marta! Firstly Congrulations you are gonna study at my university, Bahcesehir University is located in Besiktas actually where i live,one of Istanbul's major cultural and commercial centers and it is also just seaside. you can drink your tea or coffee looking at the asian part :) I am sure you would like it. Taksim square, most well know social center in Istanbul, is just only app 5-6 away from Besiktas. Additionally in Besiktas you will have an opportunity to take tramway to visit historical places(mostly imperial district) such as Blue Mosque,Hagia Sophia and the others. Briefly, you will experience a different culture and explore new world as you said. To do that, you are so lucky to study at the heart of Istanbul.
I will probably in Spain while you are doing exchange in Istanbul, feel free to ask any question about Istanbul, Besiktas and Bahcesehir University!

So guys, I made a FB group :) The name is Erasmus Istanbul 2013/2014 (for some reason I can't publish the link here :/ ) Everyone is welcome to join :)
Oh and I will go to Sabanci University, which as I was looking at the map is really far away from the center...

Mine is in Beyoglu district but I figured out that since all of my courses are in Turkish (Flora, are you having any in English?) I will probably have to do all the work on my own and won't spent much time at the faculty.. Anyway - I know it's early but do you have any ideas of where you'll be living?

My classes will be in English fortunatelly :) There wasn't even any option to choose Turkish classes, for which I am grateful. I started to learn the language, but still... :)
I don't know yet! I would like to live in the European side, even though my school will be on the other one, so tough decisions. You?
Or did anyone else already started to look for accomodations?

I'll be coming to Istanbul on Autumn and we (there will be three of us) are looking for a flat in the area, that I surrounded with red marker (sorry for that, bad paint skills ;D ). We would be staying for 4-5months. Hope you will be helpful.
