WHO AM I? Let me introduce myself! My name is Andrea and I'm Italian. I was born in Ancona, a coastal city in central Italy. I currently live in Castellón de la Plana, Spain. Here I work as a teacher of Italian, English and Spanish and as an audiovisual translator. HOW COME I TEACH FOREIGN LANGUAGES? Well, we could say that until today mine has been a life dedicated to foreign languages first as a student and then as a teacher. My educational path started in the 90s with a degree in foreign languages and literatures (University of Pisa) followed by a master's degree in audiovisual translation (University of Surrey). I started teaching in 1999 and after about 10 years of teaching face-to-face and online, Italian and English, to students of all ages and levels I decided to attend Cambridge teacher courses such as CELTA and DELTA. I have worked for a total of 15 years for several schools in countries like Venezuela, England and Spain. Since a year now, I have decided to start my own business and offer almost exclusively online lessons. MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY First of all, I listen to my potential students and try to define as accurately as possible goals and levels of linguistic knowledge. The second step is to choose activities that motivate them and which are a good match for their learning style. In my opinion, in order to learn a language, it is necessary to establish a very specific routine so to achieve realistic mini-objectives. This will allow learners to feel a constant feeling of improvement and, in so doing, to keep their motivation high. The results may not be immediate, but they will certainly be there if one has previously worked consistently and according to a precise plan.
