Hi there! My name is Virginie and I’m 37 years old. I’m a native French speaker from Belgium. I'm also an experienced French and Computer Teacher. I started my teaching career in Belgium almost 10 years ago. At that time I was working in a multicultural environment as a computer teacher. I was helping jobless people to apply online for jobs. A lot of them where immigrants and couldn’t speak French so I started to use new technologies to assist them with the language. Often, I had to improvise activities through computer to help them with their French. My delight for teaching French as a foreign language was born. In 2013 I realised my bigger dream: travelling and working across Australia. My first job over there was Language teacher assistant in a private school. I just loved that first experience of teaching my native language to young adults. Sharing more than just words: I liked to share an entire culture. After more than a year around the country, I finally settled in Queensland and started working at Lingua Franca a small private French school in Brisbane where I taught French as a foreign language to adults in group and private lessons. I also run DELF training programs to prepare student for special exams. It was a rewarding experience with which I have learnt to be familiar with the Australian public. After that useful experience I was skilled to work in a more formal institute and I started teaching for the Alliance Française de la Sunshine Coast. When I moved back home in Belgium in 2017 my Australian students wanted to keep learning with me. So I combined my two careers and started teaching online. Now I’m about to realise my second dream: teaching online as I’m travelling the world.... Whether online or on face to face, I enjoy teaching in a relax atmosphere without stress or pressure. This is the way I myself learn and it’s the way I found the most effective with my students. I like to spend the first lesson talking about what you enjoy in life, what are your passions, how you learn and why you want to learn French. Starting from there, I usually create my own tools and exercises that will suit you the most. But if you would rather use a standard method, we could work with different books depending to your needs. In any case, the content can easily differ according to the desire and the objectives of each learner.
