I am a dedicated and experienced Chinese teacher and I can teach both traditional and simplified characters. At this moment I teach at ARM also work as a freelance Mandarin Chinese teacher/tutor. I taught A level and IGCSE Chinese at Cambridge Centre for Sixth-form Studies (now part of the Stephen Perse Foundation) in Sept. 2017-June 2019. I was a private tutor for students, graduates and teaching staff at Cambridge Uni. from 2014 to 2018. I worked as a translator for the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues, School of Education, University of Birmingham in 2014-2015. I taught Mandarin for Babel Language & Cultural training in Cambridge in Feb.- May 2015. From Sept. 2013 to July 2014 I taught Mandarin at the Stephen Perse Foundation (Pre-prep, Junior & Senior Schools), Cambridge. I have been an assistant examiner for Cambridge Assessment International Education since June 2014.
Before settling down in the UK, I taught Chinese at the University of Iceland and at Icelandic senior high schools (15-20 yrs old) as well as being a private Chinese tutor for many years. In addition, I have also taught a short Mandarin course for adopted Chinese children (5-8 yrs old) and their parents at the Uni. of Iceland. The students I have taught have been aged 2 to 70. I was also in charge of the Mandarin Placement Tests (4 levels in total) for all the Icelandic senior high schools from 2009 to 2012. In order to gain more knowledge about teaching Mandarin in the British context, I completed a full-time PG Diploma in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages at SOAS, Uni. of London in Aug. 2013. Furthermore, I attended an intensive course (90 hrs) in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language in Taiwan in summer 2012.
I have taught Chinese as a Foreign Language to ab initio learners many times in Iceland and Cambridge, at schools, other institutions and as a private tutor. I consider myself to be very organised, conscientious and attentive to details. I was born and brought up in Taiwan, and then came to the UK for Higher Education.
