Hi! I’m so glad to see you here. My name is Catarina and I’m a TEFL certified English teacher with about six years of experience.

I can help you with things like grammar and CV/interview preparation, but my specialty and my favorite thing to teach have always been conversational lessons. After all, the single best way to get comfortable with a new language is to practice it - over and over and over again. This is why full immersion works so well. Even if your main problem is grammar, it’s by using the language more and more that it will stop being a problem for you.

So that’s what I aim to do in my classes - to get you to use the language as much as possible. I want you to feel comfortable with making mistakes, because all of us necessarily make mistakes when we’re learning a new language - but the freer and more comfortable with mistakes you feel, the more you’ll speak and thus, the more you’ll learn.

When you first come to me, I’ll ascertain your English level through a series of tests, written and oral. I’ll also need to get to know you, your motivation for learning English, your specific needs and your interests, because these things will help me tailor my classes specifically to you. Everyone is most motivated to learn when they’re reading or writing or speaking about things relevant to them. If you need to learn about something specific, we'll delve into that.
