Hi there,
I'm from Sydney, Australia.
I'm in the process of applying to the University of Zurich (main campus) for a semester exchange (fall semester). Does anyone know the likelihood of getting accepted?
Also-do exchange students have a fairly good chance of getting accomodation (through sites such as WOKO)?
Be great to meet someone else planning on going!
Regards,
Isabelle

Hello Isabelle!
My name is Javier, and I'm from Spain. I am going to study at ETH for a semester (the same as you). I am in the process of applying to ETH too, but I'll be an ERASMUS student. Oh! and I study Geology =)
It would be amazing to meet people before arrive at Zurich, It's not the same to be alone than to have met someone...
And yes! I am looking for a room in a share student house/flat =).

Hey Javier!
Nice to here from you.
That's awesome that you're from Spain- so far away!!
Do you intend to apply through WOKO for housing?
Also- when do you intend to arrive in Zurich? I'm travelling before hand (from the 10th of august to 1st of September), so i'm hoping ill have some accomodation lined up for when I arrive.
Also- Oktoberfest!? I don't know anyone else really and I'd love to go to it.
Regards.
Isabelle

Hi Sergi,
Nice to here from you.
I don't know a whole lot about housing, but from what ive read from past students in Zurich WOKO (student housing site) generally will have a place to exchange students who apply early. So once you are confirmed you can probably look into that. Thats what I intend to do.
This is the link to the website http://www.woko.ch/en/liegenschaften_uebersicht.asp?action=fotos&id=35
Hopefully meet you in September!

hey people from spain jaja vamos que somos pocos! mmm it's probably that i'll rent a house in Winterthur, so i have my university there. as Isabelle said, if you go to SWOWI page, you will finde all residences that are avaiable there... so check it! i don't know why but i SWOWI... you have to start paying from august,... so it's a problem from people who works in summer. but it's obligatory. so... think about it and if you have a better possibility, tell me and we talk bout it.
hope to see you there people!!

hahaha it seems that Zurich is gonna be full of spanish people..i don't know if that is good to improve our german but as we say in Galicia "maloserá".
i've already decided to live in Wintenthur too, I think i' going to choose a students residence...i've hear good reports about Camp Maximus, didn't you?
the ZHAW has offered me an intesive course of German in Konstanz, I think i'm going to do it...my german is not very good and i'd like to survive there. have they offered something similar to you?
Sergi Diaz Escrito hace 11 años
to be concrete... jajaja ZHAW don't know that i'm goingo to study there.... they just know that there are two spanish people that comes from Barcelona to study there... jaj but they don't know about me. so... no... they have not offered me anything like you, but i hope because i don't speak "anything" in German.
About residence... Maximus is the most expensive i think jajaja maybe i'll be in Jegerstrasse or something like that... it's the nearest to the School of Engineering. but it's not sure yet. this week i'm going to send the learning agreement, cause i have to do the final tesis there!!

Hello again!!
I replied some months ago to Isabelle, and finally, ETH Zurich has confirmed my Erasmus, and I have come here and... WTF! Cuantos españoles! Jaja
I think the best accomodation option is WOKO, I'm going to send an application for WOKO this week or the next week, because the flats in Zurich are too expensive, and I think living in Winterthur is less expensive, but you'll spend your money in travelling Winterthur-Zurich I think...
So, If anyone wants to exchange information (Sobre todo vosotros españoles..., para no encontrarnos solos cuando lleguemos allí!) feel free to contact with me!
Lucia Villarino Escrito hace 11 años
Sergi I've just sent a mail to swowi to try to get more information about where to stay but they answer me back that they're on holidays until the 21st may...so i'll have to wait...because i can't understand the web page very well...
my coordinator from wintentur(who is also spanish) told me that for ZAHW students was better to find accomodation in Wintenthur and travel to Zurich whe we want..so i think i'll follow her advise even though I also would like to live in Zurich...
in the Uni were very friendly with me, i didn't send my learning agreement yet but I'm in touch with both the coordinator and the internacional relations department.

for everyone... i made contact with ZHAW School of Engineering, with the electronic department coordination, so they told me about how to do the learning agreement. so... i'm waiting for the response from ZHAW. i guess everything will be allright but... i don't know. i'll notify news!!

Gracias!! :D

Hola!
